Hello Everybody!

Kazoo Week 3!

You may have noticed that when we repeat a song in class we often vary the activity type. For example, a song like There's a Little Wheel a-Turnin' makes a lovely lap song, but can also serve as a large movement activity. When we vary how we present a song, it provides children an opportunity to experience it's tonal and rhythmic structure in novel ways. Children become excellent "decoders" of music's building blocks by experiencing it in fresh ways.

You may have also noticed exuberant singing and moving during our singing. It may or may not match up with the song's actual pitches and rhythm. The time comes in children's musical development when they begin to notice that what they are singing or the beat they're expressing in their bodies doesn't match what they're hearing. When that happens, children may adopt a blank stare, but don't be fooled into thinking they are disengaged! Quite the opposite in fact. Connections are being formed in the brain that will lead to accurate pitch and rhythm matching!

Puppy Reminder: MacKensie (770) 283-4490 — is still looking for a couple of homes for her mini golden doodle puppies. They're learning to walk and play! Let her know if you're interested.

Reminder Reminder: Families not registered for summer, we miss you! Pop in for a visit in either class—text Ms. Glenda a heads up.
